What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Tennessee

i didnt really know where to post this but my question seemed similar to others in this topic.

Hello, i recently purchased a car from a private seller. i was told that the car was in good working order except for transmission pan had a dent in it and needed to be replaced. the seller said he would mail me the title and wrote out a receipt for the sell price and i went on my way.

before i could get the car home the transmission started acting funny and slipping out of gear when i would get it up to interstate speeds. while yes i did drive the car before i purchased it, it's old home was in the wooded country of tennessee and would not be able to get the car up to speed without driving 20-30 miles to a suitable road.

is there any way i can make the seller refund my money or am i stuck with a getting the transmission overhauled. i have not received the title for the car and the seller will not answer or return my calls.

thank you

When you hired a mechanic to check the vehicle out before you purchased it (as-is), what did they indicate needed fixed on the vehicle?
