What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas
Wow. Do I have some form of recourse? I bought a 95 Berretta from a private individual and it broke down before I got home! I immediately called the seller and he just laughed at me! I guess the transaction was 'as is' but isn't there a law that the car must be at least road worthy / safe if sold as 'running'? I feel so 'ripped off'!

When I looked into the source of the problem, I thought it was the starter but it may also be the flywheel. I had someone look into it and he got it running again for a short time by doing something to the flywheel. I then learned that it had no brakes! The pressure gauge is also very high which I learned may be just a sensor or it may indicate it needs a new engine!

Can anyone help? Can I return the car? Get some money back? How do I go about documenting this problem? Who can I turn to or am I just stuck with it?

These are ALL problems that should have been glaringly obvious...did you even LOOK at the car before you bought it?
