Hi

This may be a simple question, however, I do not know the answer - am I legally allowed to buy and then sell paintings ? i.e. buy them with the intention of selling them for a profit, furthermore, am I legally allowed to buy paintings (frame these myself) and then sell them ?

Kind Regards
Ricardo

Simple answer, yes.

More complex answer, who knows? What will the claim be? Did you buy the "painting" subject to a license or other agreement? Can an attorney twist intellectual property law in some way to prevent you?

You can buy and sell paintings. I do it all the time.

You can get in trouble doing either if the paintings are infringing on a copyright.
You can get in trouble importing or selling paintings if they infringe on a trademark.
