I received benefits from my work when I went on disability, but what I didn't realize was that I could collect disability from the government as well. Is it possible for me to collect the past money I was due?

I did apply for government benefits at the beginning of my disability as well, received one payment, but then stopped payments from the government because I assumed I could only do employer benefits only.

No. Only partial. And my employer told me I should have been receiving government payments all along in addition to my employee benefits.
