What is the name of your state? OREGON

I just received a letter in the mail from a company called Genesis Financial Solutions., I’m not sure if it’s a CA or something else. Its says I owe $2,311.08, It says on the letter this communication is from a debt collector. This is an attempt to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose. It also says act now and you can pay less than your full balance, pay 65% of your current balance by a said date, and they will forgive the remaining balance. There’s nothing on this letter that says I have 30 days to validate anything. Nothing about validating at all.

Not only that, but that letter smacks of overshadowing both by the demand to pay 65% by a given date AND the lack of the '30 days to dispute' verbage.

How old is this debt, when did you last pay the original creditor ?

i dont know who its from or what its for or how old it is. it says on the letter that they bought my account from HRSI with an account number. I dont have clue who that is. It says 3 easy ways to pay by phone, send check or money order, or visit there website and enter some numbers as your user id and then some other numbers for a password. below that it says Act now and you can pay less than the full balance.

If I remember correctly, HRIS does financing for many department stores as well as motorcycles, personal watercraft, snowmobiles, etc. Too many things and names to list here. The collection agency (and that is what they are) is required to send you a notice once they have your debt explaining to you that they are collecting on it. The first notice is the validation letter which states that you have 30 days to dispute the debt, or request verification. If you do not do this, they then assume that the debt is valid. Are you sure that you did not get a letter from them before this one? No matter if you did or not, you can still request in writing for them to send you the verification which will list what the actual charge is. More then likley you will get it.

The letter that you are talking about is an offer to settle the debt for less then what you owe. Basically a way to get you to contact them to either make payment arraingments, or sent in the 65% of the balance owed. If you choose the latter, it will reflect on your credit report as settled for less then what was owed.

Hope that helps you.
