California - Noisy neighbor disturbing at night

I am a owner of townhouse that has a common/shared wall with other neighbor who is an owner too. The woman lives alone at night and does prostitution and looks like none other neighbors know about it.. We got to know about a year back and since then she has been disturbing our sleep at night ... She keeps kicking the wall and throws things to make loud noise intermittently throughout the night. The noise is heard only inside our home as she hits the walls and ceiling with stone and kicks the wall hard.The house vibrates when she jumps or throws something and we get out of sleep.


Tried to tell the woman and it is getting worse. Unfortunately it is hard to record as the iPhone doesn't record actual noise she makes and also it is very intermittent.

What options do I have? How do I prove that woman makes loud noise and disturbs us?

You can invite the police over when she is making noise loud enough to disturb your sleep, this if talking to her doesn't work.

Talking to her didn't work, rather increased more since she got to know we are getting disturbed. She intermittently makes loud noise and stops when we wake up and talk. We hear her laughing when we wake up. I am just concerned if police comes in and she acts very innocent, they won't find anything to stop her.

That is, of course, a possibility.

If you can hear her through your walls and she can hear through the walls you and your spouse talking, perhaps you might want to think about soundproofing your house. Either that or buy ear plugs.
