My husband is a truck driver and I have 6 children and alot of stress that I am going thru right now. I have a condition in which they still have not found the correct drug combination for me and it causes insomnia. Therefore, both of us take ephedrine frequently.

This witch down at the local service station called the state police on us, told them that we were buying 6 bottles a day, (there is a two bottle limit), and that she had register receipts from all of the times we have purchased. Obviously, not all from our transactions. Not there everyday. If she wants evidence, she should get a video tape.

Two of Indiana's finest, came to my house Friday, questioned me and proceeded to look through my house. I was investigated for the manufacturing of meth amphetamine!!!!!

I do not even go to that station everyday, let alone buy 6 bottles of pills. Husband drives semi and some days isn't home. So where she is getting her information I do not know. I don't know this woman and neither my husband or I can think of anything we did to her to cause her to act like this. I have 6 children and I am sure that if the police didn't notify Child Protective Services, that will be her next step.

I do not have anything to hide because I am not making drugs. I enjoy life, family, freedom, etc too much. But now this is on my record. If she continues to cause problems it is just going to keep putting black marks on our record.

This is not the first time she has caused trouble for us. First time was pretty minor tho and we let it go after speaking to the manager of the store.

We live in a small faming community, everyone knows each time you go to the bathroom, less than 500 people. We have only lived here 7 months. We are good upstanding people. Just trying to make ends meet and live our lives.

What right does she have to do this? It is a legal over the counter medication. It is normally used for asthma relief. If I go and buy 6 bottles of Tylenol PM, does that mean I'm going to overdose and kill myself?

Does this qualify for defamation of character or slander?

If it does, what do I do about it?

You're taking ephedrine to help you sleep? I thought ephedrine was that diet drug that has been taken off the market.... or are you just taking Tylenol PM? I'm confused. Could you clarify?

Clarification....

We take the ephedrine to stay awake. I take it only in the mornings so I don't happen to fall asleep on my children.

The Tylenol PM was a joke....

They took ephedra off the market, which was a diet pill. Ephedrine is a bronchioldialator. It is still available. Ephedra is a natural product and ephedrine is manufactured by a pharmacutical company.

Hope this helps. Sometimes in the wee hours, I even confuse myself. Sorry...

Confusing post.

How often do you buy these? And if you are on drugs that cause insomnia you are making it worse buy buying this stuff. It makes you wide awake? If you don't mind me asking whats this condition that you need all this medication for. Did your Dr go and tell you to take this over the counter stuff?

Honestly she was probably concerned. She happend to go about it the wrong way. It is up to the police to call DSS if they thought their was a problem in the home and they would have been removed ASAP. Plus just because they come to your home and look around doesn't mean its on your record? They have to have strong suspicion to make any kind of problems.

I just dont think I am getting this whole story.

They are planning on taking this drug/herbal off the market just like they took PPA off the market, because of abuse and deaths that occured, in both cases millions of people who have few options for respitatory disorders can no longer get medications they need because of people abusing the drug. It sounds like you are hording this medication before they take it off the market.

If you really have a sleep disorder your doctor can Rx a non addicting medication to help with fatigue and alertness, self medicating is not the answer. I looked at your other posts and see why you have reasons for stress and you must take responsibility in your life, that will help both with stress and sleep. This DRUG is not the answer. Having 6 children doesn't give you special license or excuses for taking too much of this dangerous DRUG, although you may indeed have reason to be tired, but you need to be alert and healthy to care for them. What kind of a lesson does this convey to your 6 children? Are you sending them to buy your DRUGS maybe that is where they are comming up with the number of bottles? You are not the one who decides what kind of evidence is entered, receipts or video tapes, it is not your call. If you need help with your substance abuse, sleep or other disrders see your doctor and get referrals.

I don't have a drug addiction problem. We don't buy as much as she said we did. I take it in the morning to stay awake and not fall asleep on my 6 children because when my body DOES decide to sleep it does it when it wants to whereever and whenever. Hubby takes it to stay awake on the road and make his deliveries.

We are not abusing the drug. I mentioned my medical condition because of the insomnia. Wanted to give y'all some back ground info. We are not the people she made us out to look like.

So can anyone answer my original question and forget trying to label us drug addicted and drug abusing parents? It was a simple question and I would simply like an answer.

just to let you know, Ephedrine is an "upper" or speed. The lady who is bugging you thinks you are on speed which you are, and with six kids is probably showing reasonable concern even if it was a legal drug.

The OP knows why the police were called. I'm curious as to exactly how she knows who reported this, and why she thinks cps is going to be called if the police found no reason during their "search"

Anyway, my advice is stop using that stuff and making excuses for using it, or you will, sometime in the future need an attorney or a Coroner.

Taking daily doses of ephedrine to "stay awake" is symptomatic of an addiction. That your husband uses it while driving a big rig is scary.

You claim you have insomnia and you are taking medication to keep you awake? You're hooked baby.
