What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida.
I was told that a senior citizen cannot adopt a child. However, can they do foster care? Thanks for any info.

Senior citizens CAN adopt. Many countries have a maximum age difference rule of 50 years for the YOUNGEST parent, so a senior citizen probably can't adopt newborn. However, they can adopt, foster or both, if they otherwise qualify, a senior CAN either adopt. There is an age 50 plus support group for older adoptors/foster care givers:

GAARP : GracefullyAgingAdoptive Refined Parents

IT has been fairly inactive for some ime, but the archives are informational, and provide info from many older adoptors.

Thanks all. I am amazed to hear that senior citizens can adopt. I had been told years ago, that a person 50 or older could not adopt period. That's great news. Thanks so much for your kind assistance. I am going to try out foster care first and see how it goes.
