What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MA

We are renting a unit w/ in a condo association where there are 3 people on the condo committee. One appointed herself
trustee and property manager, and the other 2 are friends of hers who go along with whatever she says.. She pays herself
$650 a mth. She was told that this was a conflict of interest but for some reason she seems to be able to do anything she
wants. There are 32 units. Each unit pays $180 a mth condo fee. Driveways that need to be paved are not, and others that
hardly need it are being paved. We don't have termites, yet someone came and dug up the front of the house claiming we do.
Yet someone across the street who does have termites is not getting this done to their condo.

The windows in the unit we rent, badly need to be replaced, yet she sent someone out to give her an estimate on tinning our
windows but no one else.

Votes are done my mail, not at meetings. They send out letters to vote, and then the votes go to this
womans condo PO Box and she says what the votes are collectively, but will not let others see the actual votes.

I was told by my landlord, that the condo association can pretty much do anything they want, so there is no fighting
them. Is this true?

You are confusing two different issues:

your relationship with your landlord and his/her obligations to you

and


the relationship you might have with the COA and its members



it is unlikely you have any control over the operation of the COA since you are only tenants. Your landlord, as an owner, would be the one with any such powers.

If you have issues with your unit, that is something for you to address with your landlord. They are the entity that has an obligation to provide a habitable unit to you, not the COA.

due to your position as a tenant, it doesn't make any difference to you. If your landlord has an issue with it and cares to ask, suggest he register with his own account and ask any questions he may have.

I don't see why it would be a conflict of interest. The head of the condo committee, the trustee, and the property manager all have reasonably aligned interests.

In what way do you see those positions with opposing interests?
