Go to your local police precenct [sic] and ask for an application.

More screwy advice from Banned_Princess.

NYPD precincts do NOT have anything to do with firearms permitting or registration. You cannot go to a precinct stationhouse for ANY firearms licensing or registration.

The gun needs no paperwork...

Oh really? That's plain WRONG if you're referring to long guns.

It is unlawful to possess rifles or shotguns in New York City without obtaining a permit issued by the New York City Police Department.

All rifles and shotguns owned by a permit holder must be registered with the Police Department. There is no charge for registering firearms. The registration of a rifle or shotgun can be accomplished by filling out the registration form, PD 641-121.

...YOU need alot of paperwork.

You just have no idea.

i do live in nyc and by the way the gun is a muskett, it's a collectors item but it does work...

It is NOT a musket. You said it is a handgun. A musket is a muzzle-loaded smooth bore long gun. So what kind of gun is it?

I strongly suggest you take a trip down the the NYPD License Division on the first floor of 1 Police Plaza ( no one will answer any questions by phone) and find out for sure. If it is a black powder firearm I believe it is exempt from licensing but you first need to know what it is you have and second you need to confirm the requirements for licensing with the source, i.e. the License Division.

MY precent (SICS) has the applications. I have been there and picked some up.

well I'm not referring to "long guns" or "previously long guns before being sawed" I was referring to handguns which I was clear about, captain obvious.

MORE SCREWY ADVICE FROM AN IDIOT WHO GAVE NOTHING Tangible in the first place, quoting something stupid from Weschester (no spell check on this computer.) county before knowing anything real.

Stones in glass houses.

Casting stones seems to be your strong point. I gave accurate advice. You and a few others should concentrate on attempting to assist OP's, which is the purpose of the forum, instead of wasting white space fulfilling some latent need to be heard, when you have nothing additional to contribute that will assist the OP. It seems there are a few people like that on here, that let their keyboard override their inability to act similarly in polite, public, settings. It depreciates the value of the forum, when people are dead set on pursuing their own self glorifying agendas. I can only assume it is income related as it seems to occur more at the end of the month.
