I live in the state of Connecticut.

My ex-husband was recently arrested for drunk driving. I became aware of the arrest by accident and was able to obtain records of the arrest through the court. He did not tell me about the arrest - which would have been important for me to know since for a period of time last year, he was court ordered not to transport our daughter in vehicle because alcohol was an issue.

I am concerned that he will find a way to get the charges dismissed and/or that he will not tell me the disposition of the hearing.

His hearing is is in superior court next week. Am I allowed to attend the hearing? Am I allowed to offer any commentary or evidence or can I just observe?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Q: Am I allowed to attend the hearing?

A: Yes, it is a public hearing.

Q: Am I allowed to offer any commentary or evidence or can I just observe?

A: Talk to the prosecutor if you have evidence about this particular crime. Otherwise, evidence of character and habit will probably not be allowed since it is not really relevant.

Seniorjudge - That was good advice.

I spoke to the prosecutor and while she did say that I should attend the hearing, the judge would not be interested in what I had to say because it did not directly relate to this crime. However, it was relevant information to put in the file and she said she would ask the judge to order that my ex-husband not be allowed to transport minors. We'll see what the judge says...

Thanks!
