I'm in Baltimore MD. I replied to an email about a busness proposition (compilation CD) and I won't go into the details but the deal did not turn out to be what it was implied to be. I replied with comments such as 'What kind of scam is this' and 'What i think is..' saying what I thought the scam was. The email was to 8 people and did not make claim that the statements were fact, but they were accusitory. Can I be sued for Libel or Slander for this?

Thanks!

**A: yes. Will the plaintiff prevail? Probably not.

Thanks a bunch. What are the chances that a lawyer would take such a case to court? Esp. with the statements not being declared as factual, and the audience being 8 people.

Thanks again!

On contingency...

...zero.

If the plaintiff is willing to pay for the attorneys time in doing so, possibly. But, like everyone else, they hate to lose. So, you have little to worry about in my opinion.

Baltimore MD:

I have one very last question. I swear! Say the would-be plaintiff is still threatening. For a case such as this, where the alleged crime is on the internet, where would the trial take place? Would it be where the email was sent, I can't imagine that it would be where it was received, since it's probably 8 different places. How would something of this sort go down? Who would have to travel when. I'm not sure how cases work, I assume this would be dismissed but I don't know what goes on before that hearing, and who needs to be present.

Thanks!
