I was wondering...the marriage law for mississippi says that i can get married without parental consent at the age of 15. I was just wondering if you have to live in the state to get married there. sorry i know i sound really dumb but this is something that i really wanna do.

**Where did you find a law that supported that? Information I am finding contradicts that.

Under 21: Parental consent is needed if under 21 years of age. If parents or guardians do not give consent at time of application, they will be notified via certified mail. The marriage application will be held for three (3) days. Marriage licenses cannot be issued to males under 17, or females under 15 years of age. If the clerk receives a signed authorization from the parents, this minimum age requirement can be waived.

I can't speak for all states, but mine has made it PAINFULLY clear that they will not allow anyone to marry in this state if the marriage would be illegal in their home state. And I seriously doubt that any state will permit an out-of-state 15 year old to marry in their state without parental permission. They're not going to assist you in such an obvious attempt to circumvent your own state's laws.

Your boyfriend could be in really DEEP do-do if he takes you across state lines. You will not be able to marry under their laws unless you ARE a legal resident.

**No, I don't think it is the same girl. This one PM'd me last night and told me where she found the age limits site. She told me she was 17 and her mother would not consent.

I was trying to bring it to the sites attention that it is their info. from home page.

I was concerned, I noticed the birthdates were different, but strange two within hours, something in the water.

I am in a similar situation. I found sites saying that the legal age of consent for marriage in Mississippi is 15 for girls and 17 for boys. other sites say different. i'm 15 and want and need to get married a.s.a.p. can anyone tell me if i can get married in mississippi? i appriciate any help you could give. thanks.

If you think anyone here is going to help a 15 year old ruin her life by getting married, you've got another think coming to you, babycakes.

I don't care if you're pregnant or not, the most stupid thing you could possibly do is get married at 15. Which you cannot do, without your parent's consent, anyway.

Why not put all that researching talent into finding a way to accomplish a post-secondary education? Or, at minimum, a technical school education. Unless you think this wonderful guy who wants to ruin your life instead of encourging you to be the most you can be won't want you unless you are dependent, compliant and have no other options.

FYI- My brother and his wife were in love and dating from age 16. But neither of them was so shortsighted that they chucked their futures and jumped into marriage. They were STILL in love at age 22 when they married AFTER they BOTH got their college degrees. And have now been married 25 years. And even then, they gave themselves 5 years together before even starting to make babies. And BECAUSE they waited, they are able to give their kids a very nice life and future.

yeah. well i would like to go to school that's why i want to get married. i was an honor student at a magnet high school. i had a very abusive life at home so i left over a year ago to live with another relative. my parents finally decided that i shouldn't have the choice of where to live and if there happens to be abuse well so be it. so i left for good in the summer. now my parents are forcing the school not to allow me to return. i have a lawyer but the law seems to be against me on this one. they are trying to take away my education just to spite me. they know that my education is all i have ever cared about in life and they've always enjoyed making me suffer. i have to wait until i'm 16 to even be considered for emancipation and i won't be granted it unless i'm in school but the school won't allow me to attend without my parents' permission. don't judge my choices because you don't understand them. i refuse to become another statistic and i refuse to stand idley by while my education is taken from me. i have the right to an education and no one is going to take it away from me without a fight.
