What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I'm In Canada.

So my employer and I have been having a few issues lately. They being unfair to me and me being a jerk because of that.

The thing is, they want me to quit so I've been given a hefty load of the work, more then others. I just wanted fair treatment and spoke out on that. The other employees are model employees because they are lifers there and will never/too scared, to speak out.

Anyways. I work at a hatchery and I have video evidence of animal abuse/cruelty and I want to leak those videos and expose this company. If do that, can I get sued?

This site handles US law questions and legal concerns only, GimmeMoJustice. Sorry. You will have to find your justice somewhere in Canada. Good luck.

And just to clarify, it's not because we're just being ornery, it's because US law and Canadian law is not the same. We have only one expert in Canadian law here. If she comes by, she may be able to help, but the rest of us don't know the law in Canada.

I am the Canadian. If you expose the abuse in this way, the company may sue you, but whether or not it will win is unknown. The chances of the company winning are high if you don't retain a lawyer to help you. So being sued will be costly for you, even if you win in the end.

Please also note that if you expose the abuse in this way, you will have given your employer a legal good cause reason to fire you - so no severance or notice pay - and you may not be entitled to EI benefits.

The better, safer and more financially secure way to do this would be to give the evidence to the relevant regulatory agency and let said agency handle the issue from there.

Such a sad world where someone is okay with animal abuse/cruelty as long as he's not feeling unfairly treated.

Hoping karma does its thing.

I think I'll try to get a free consultation. Maybe I can get a settlement from the company, kind of a way for them to "buy me out" and I can resign and go on with my life.

Otherwise, I'll expose the videos on youtube, do it anonymously, and watch it go viral. Throw the company under the bus.

No it's never ok. I've felt bad every single time. Believe me, a lot of businesses that work with animals, they all have their deep black secrets, that's for sure. I have a ton of stories to tell.
