Years ago the bank put $2000 that was not mine in my account. I just let it sit there to see what would happen. About 6 months later, they realized their mistake and took the money back out. I don't think you have an obligation to tell them about their mistake, but you can be sure they are going to come and get the money at some point, and if you used it, you'll be in trouble. Better just tell them and avoid the temptation.

Same thing happened with CalAtty's boyfriend. He was in, and before she knew it, he was out.
