I work in the apartment I live in. Since it is part time, I had to take a full time pos elsewhere. Both schedules are flexible enough that they accommodate each other. However, I am in fear that if I quit my part time, I may get evicted - can they do that? if not, is there some help we can get? The strain of both jobs is taking its toll on us. If they can, our credit is not sufficient to get anything on my income - any assistant for that?

Why would you want to quit the part time job that is providing you with a place to live? To me, it seems that being possibly evicted would be tremendously more stressful than working the second job around your primary job. It sounds like you are doing okay with you working two jobs here, one is not interfering with the other. Is your significant other not working at least part time also? If working two jobs is taking a toll on you, and yes, it can be very exhausting, though many people have certainly done it, then the other party should share the load.

Is working there a condition of the lease you signed? Is it some form of Section 8 or income controlled housing? There is usually little help from social programs for people who have voluntarily quit jobs, except for VERY good reasons, and thus found themselves out of income and/or possibly evicted. As for being homeless in Minnesota, I don't know what help is available for you, but you would need to discuss this with social services.

I see I left a major part out, my mistake. I'll clear that up in a moment.

I have no lease. It is part of my compensation (been living there for 11yrs and working with them for the last 6yrs, they turned down the full time offer, so I had to get another job - which I got promoted to full time).

Is it some form of Section 8 or income controlled housing?
No on both questions - it is privately owned.

Understood - this aspect of the question is answered in another post relating to tenant/landlord disputes. I am in wrongful termination if they can fire me because of my wifes mental issues, and then claim we don't need your services anymore. tough one I know, but I would feel it discriminatory (she suffers from Asperger syndrome ). When the new property manager came on board, he didnt look twice at me, had his own team. I find it hard to believe that they can just brush off a prior employee with a simple "we don't need you anymore". That is what I am asking. Since it is a privately own property, I been working there (with W2's) for 6yrs, and they decide they want to use their crew - is that within the limits of the law to say I'm done? White it may not be, I am pretty sure they will build a case using my wife as a cause for disturbance,

So that kills two questions, with the second one being, no, the wife does not work, thus why i have 2 jobs.
After reading this, I think the landlard/tenant dispute section is more my target. As my biggest fear is can they evict if I don't want to work for them.
The only question in this thread, is can they fire me because they have their own crew. I know part time you do not get unemployement bennies, but still no reason to dump good help.

If your living there is part of your compensation, and you are no longer working there, there is no need for you to receive compensation of any kind.
