I am 38, divorced, 3 children live with me and we live at my fathers house with him. I have been out of work on a private disability and work injury for over 2 years now. First filed for ssdi about 1 yr ago and was denied because "You should not be out of work for a year or more". Well surprise I was and still am. Have had 2 surgeries on one wrist and bones taken out and the other wrist had 1 surgery and waiting for approval for another on the ulner nerve. I have also been DX with depression, fibromyalgia, herniated disc in lower back, Carpal and Cubital tunnel syndrome, OCD, border line personality disorder, anxiety, and a couple other things that I can't remember. I also have such a bad problem with my memory that I have missed so many doctors appts and have reschedualed them and missed them. I am so upset over this whole thing. I don't go anywhere or do anything unless it's a trip for a test or dr appt if I remember it. Anyway, has anyone ever heard of a parent basically quiting their normal job to take care of their disabled adult child and get "paid" by the ssa for doing this? With my memory problems and my painful hands and not able to do alot of things my fathers friends are telling him that they have heard of this very thing. My father is 57 as worries about me because I'm home by my self and have almost burnt the house down. No lieing and not on purpose. If anyone knows of anything like this please let me know. thank you
PS my appeal of the no answer to the original petition to ssd was done about 6 months ago and i have a lawyer and we are waiting for a Judge to "pick it up
