What is the name of your state? Florida
I live in a condo owned by my dad, who lives in California, so the title (for now) is in his name. I've lived here uneventfully for two years, paying all fees on time. I've never had parties, etc. One day a friend of mine came over and was on a lot of drugs, although I didn't realize it at the time. I live in a 2 bedroom condo with one bedroom set up as my TV room, because having my TV in the living room disturbed my neighbor. Here's the issue: while I was watching TV, my (former) friend went into my bedroom and got into my guns. He came into the TV room with a loaded firearm and discharged a round that hit my TV stand and speaker (it didn't go through walls, etc). I immediately took the gun away from him and led him into the eleveator to get him off the property. While in the elevator, he attacked me with his belt buckle. I took a good beating and was covered with blood by the time we reached the lobby. I yelled for the doorman to call 911 and a construction worker nearby restrained my former friend until the police arrived and arrested him. I was the victim.
The president of the board is a retired admiral who thinks the building is his own personal battleship. When I said hello to him in the lobby the other day, he snarled at me that he was getting the board to retain an attorney to get me evicted because I'm a violent person!
The Board meets this week to select an attorney to begin the proceedings or get an opinion or whatever. I've contacted an attorney and he said until I get a notice of eviction I can't do anything. Please bear in mind there is absolutely nothing about owning a firearm in either the condo docs or the rules and regs. I know for a fact others in the building own guns, too.
Is there any possible way they can evict me for one isolated incident? What if I transfer the title to my name? Please, I need some good advice. This is a crazy issue. Thank you.
