Cancelled Auto insurance

A friend of mine just had an auto accident - she hit a telephone pole and totalled her car. When looking into her auto insurance, she discovered she is no longer covered. She has never received a cancellation notice from the insurance company. When she called them, they said she is not covered because she hasn't paid any premiums since June. She said she does not remember getting any bills. When she asked them why she wasn't sent a cancellation notice, they said she wasn't cancelled, but was not covered since she has not paid her premium. She contacted the PA Dept. of Transportation and they said that the insurance co. must contact them to let them know of a driver that's not covered by insurance so they can request her license. They have no record of being notified by the insurance company that they were dropping her. Is she eligible for coverage under these circumstances - she did not know she had been dropped. If any one has any advice on what she should do in this situation, it would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds as if she was not cancelled, she just did not pay to renew her policy.

Ask to see a copy of the renewal notice that was mailed.

Regardless though, why had she not inquired as to what she owed if she had not paid since June?

Insurance is just like power and water and rent and phone, you have something due every month (most companies do!). I image those out here without insurance are wearing new clothes and having manicured nail treatments and going out to eat all the time while smoking those cigs and drinking that alochol! Gosh if we have learned anything, please learn that insurance comes first!!!!!!!!!

She hasn't paid a dime to her insurance company since June and figured everything is okey dokey?! Did she think there was some anonymous benefactor making sure she had auto insurance?

She's an AIRHEAD....she doesnt need a car anyway.

There are plenty of men who will pick her up and pay her bills.. in exchange for Sex. Now is her time to flaunt it ....

Since her Drivers License will be suspended, she need to find a nice sugar daddy, who will hire a driver for her.
