Can someone tell me If my delaer car sale contract is a proof of my cash(paper money) downpayment to them. I made a cash downpayment and the finance manager told me that the signed contract will be my receipt.
She makes me sign the regular car purchase and trade in papers. The loan agreement papers and the car sale, dealer's paper, then she ask for me to make the downpayment. I gave her the cash and she signs all the same papers I signed and hands me the keys to the car I just purchased. Days later I recieve calls from the finance manager and the sales guy that I need to stop by and make a downpayment. I have already given them the cash and taken a receipt. If they are trying to threaten me that they will reposses the car, i have the contract as proof of the purchase and the downpayment. Does anyone know if I need to be worried about this?

yes it does

The contract says that I purchased the car at $xxx - trade in value $ xxx
+ taxes $ xxx = total - cash downpayment $ xxx = amount financed $ xxx.
when I asked the finance manager for a receipt, she said this contract is a receipt when she sign it. So she signs it together with all the other paper of the trade in and the loan agreement, hands me over the keys and lets me drive off.

If you have a contract from the dealership listing your cash downpayment you are good. What did they say when you told them you have a reciept issued from them stating they received the cash?

They told me!

They told me that the contract is not a receipt, and we are gonna have to report to police about this, they will question you. You should pay the downpayment(again!) or police will come and question you. I told them fine, I am willing to answer the police, I have all my paperwork, and I havent received a call from them since. But they havent paid off my other car and they havent even processed the loan application for the new car. I am worried this will hurt my credit.
