Can anyone offer any advise on a percentage to offer as a cash settlement for a credit card debt that should have been covered by the credit card company's protection plan, but was not?

Long story short, a $500 debt turned into $1200 (accrual of interest, finance charges and over limit fees) while we were disputing it. The card company assigned a collection attorney, who had us summoned and we so stupidly missed the summons date. The court awarded the card company/collection attorney the $1200 + 25.25% interest per annum from 10/17/01 through 11/12/04 + 8% per annum thereafter + attorney fees of $183.

At this point we don't have much money, and could get up to the $1200 we've been disputing the whole time, but that's about it.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

a percentage of 100%. Since its passed the judicial process, the plaintiff has no reason to accept less then what was awarded by the courts. Granted a few will advise that a settlement can be negotiated, its often rare that it works in the debtors favor.
