You said something inappropriate. You were reported. Nothing illegal happened.

If you are written up or warned for this, and then there is another occurrence, another complaint, it may very well lead to your termination, without recourse of any kind, including unemployment insurance. I am sure your situation with this resident is very frustrating, but what you said was inappropriate. If you continue to talk to people in a disrespectful and inappropriate manner, you may be fired. No one is saying you should love changing the lady, but it is a situation that is part of your ordinary work load. And it is totally inappropriate for you to say anything negative to her while you are providing the care.

In this case it sounds as though you actually may have been a whole lot more forceful and disrespectful than a polite "I can't keep changing you." Face it, you were out of line. If you move on and don't repeat the offense, they probably will not terminate you. It's hard to find people willing to work in these very stressful and underpaid and unpleasant jobs. But that doesn't mean you can take it out on the residents.

Okay, fine. You do everything perfectly and your care is flawless.

It was STILL totally inappropriate for you to say that to her, and if you are fired I won't be shedding a single tear. You were not falsely accused, you were correctly reported, and you SHOULD be fired.

Clear?

Obviously, someone there agreed that you were behaving inappropriately and that's why you're home instead of at work.

Since you seem to be unable to respond appropriately to comments directed to you regarding your behavior, you may have reached the time in your life when you should consider another line of work.

Your comment about siding with the residents because of the money makes me wonder about your commitment to your profession.

and not to kick the dead horse, but you were not falsely accused. you admitted what you said. there was nothing false flying around.

Look even if you didn't say something you should not have and your employer knew it, they could still legally fire you for merely being accused of saying something inappropriate. They don't have to let you tell your side of the story nor do they have to "prove" anything. They are not a court of law. If you are fired you should immediately file for unemployment. A single inappropriate comment to a resident is not misconduct.

If you've been working as a CNA for 15 years, and you say something like that to a resident, it is well past time for you to find new work.

My first job was a CNA, I've worked in the medical field for almost ten years. Compassion--or tact--appears to something you are lacking.

I've dealt with situations like the one you've mentioned, and there are far better ways you could have handled.

You mention things like the number of briefs the resident went through over the course of a shift....Do you know how much a resident/their family/insurance company pay for their care? Are you aware that said care include however many clean briefs are needed--there isn't a limit.

You talk about he fact that you are responsible for twelve other residents as well. I wonder how many of them didn't have roommates or visitors to overhear what might have been said to them???

I do have to say that it is possible that OP may be fired over this. Once some of these types of allegations surface, some facilities prefer a CYA approach to prevent any escalation of inappropriate conduct, rather than counselling the employee.

i got written up, one more and termination**************.the lady that turned me in, turned another cna the same day...it looks like this lady will have every cna turned end by the end of the week...habitual complainer
