When my partner and I moved into our apartment complex, on our lease it simply states that a dishwasher is included with the apartment. It's been
2 1/2 months since we moved in and still, no dishwasher. My partner and I had contacted the landlords office and had asked when they are to install dishwasher in our unit. ALL the other units are newly remodeled with a dishwasher, except for mine. It's an essential to have one since the kitchen is so small, there's no room for us to have a dish drainer on the cabinets. I was informed earlier that the landlords office called and told my partner that they weren't going to install a dishwasher for us. This breaches the leasing contract and what can be done about this ordeal. There's more to the dispute we have with our cheap landlord who obviously doesn't care to accomadate his tenants and when it comes to fixing problems it's not taken care of. Any advice given is GREATLY appreciated, thank you for your time.

**A: read the CA Civil Code and send L a certified rrr letter telling him he is a freaking cheapskate, oh, strike that. The letter should demand the dw be installed per the lease agreement.

Actually.....

I think what mr manager was trying to say is that if the OP is gay it is possible that is the reason the landlord has not installed the dishwasher. Which would then make this a fair housing issue.

If there are no other gay couples in the complex, or if there are and they have all had a problem with the landlord, then you might have a good case on that. Assuming, of course, that the OP really is gay. If not, sorry some people (myself included) are making too many assumptions.

Jeesh...for pitys sake

Tim...
read this
http://www.dca.ca.gov/legal/landlordbook/

Do what it says about getting repairs...
Read in your lease/ rental agreement... there was probably a place where you had to initial that you have a fridge, range... a/c DW... etc.

Copy that... put it in your Letter that you CCCR, which you learned how to do under the repairs section in the handbook link I gave you.

Do your dishes with my blessing... with hopefully a brand-new dishwasher...but they might give you a used one...they can...but hopefully by now they will see you know your tenants rights and won't mess with you.

In other words...you should just pay attention to the first reply you got from your post..
