What is the name of your state? I live in Alaska. I went on vacation with a co-worker. I paid for the hotel and airfare up front. She gave me a check a month later. The check bounced. I was charged $25 for the insufficient funds. My questions: Did she also receive notification of the check bouncing? How can I collect my money for the original check plus the fee I was charged? I paid for the trip upfront with a good faith that she would pay me back. We did not have anything in writing. Am I up the creek without a paddle??????

Their bank charges them for the bounced check as well.
May be it so happened that the day you deposited the check, she did not have sufficient funds in her account.
There is nothing to worry about at this point. This has happened to me too.
Just talk to her and tell her check bounced and you were charged for it, and ask for the money and the charge. She will pay you.
