What is the name of your state? Iowa.

Hopefully this question isn't too confusing.

Scenario:

Father is the custodial parent, and Mother is non-custodial who pays child support. Child support calculation was established 10 + years ago. Father has never requested an increase in all of the years.

To date, the Mother (non-custodial parent) has had 2 additional children whom she is a non-custodial parent of as well and pays that Father child support too.

If the first Father wants to request an "adjustment" in child support (trying to get an increase), will the child support that she pays to the second Father be considered in the calculation? In other words, will that work against the first Father in the case? (If she is able to use her other child support obligation, that will bring her income down and [on paper] will look like she makes less money than she actually does.)

I've heard mixed answers on this one.....as some say since his child was born first, that the child support she pays to the other Father should not be considered......since she chose to have two more children knowing that she had one to help support as well.

Sorry this is so long, but it's kind of confusing and wanted to make it as clear as possible.

As far as I know, most states, if not all, calculate other court orders for support when determining a seperate support order. They usually have to take into consideration a legal court order like that. Some states even calculate other bio children living with you.

Go to www.childsupportguidelines.com

They may even have a child support calculator on there for your state.
