What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

My seasonal job says that they prohibit employees from engaging with clients outside of the work place can they legally do that? They fired me because of rumors that I was dating a client. My boss was letting me resign at first but I revoked it because I feel as though this is wrongful termination but I am not sure.

Though CA does offer a small amount of protection to employees at will, it appears you were legally fired and have no recourse.

File for unemployment anyhow. You don't have anything to lose by doing so. Not resigning means they have the burden of proof that you knew the rules, had been clearly warned about the rules and chose to ignore the rule, and therefore your firing was for a valid misconduct reason. But it doesn't hurt to file a claim while you are looking for another job. If they want to, a company can have a rule that says you can't wear socks that don't match. And if you do, they can legally fire you. You should have kept the interaction with your client private (or held off on it) until you found a new job, or they started using another provider.

Just to be clear, even if you weren't dating a client, firing you due to rumours that you were, is still legal.

And if you weren't dating a client, don't let your employer push you into resigning. You will have a better shot at getting UI if you are fired.
