What is the name of your state? Virginia

I closed on my house in Nov. 2004 and recently discovered that the closing agent miscalculated my city taxes when I received a deliquent notice in the mail.

The amount of taxes withheld should be double the amount they calculated. Also, my mortgage company is not collecting enough for taxes because of their mistake. Do I have any legal recourse for their mistake?

**A: no, so pay the taxes and inform the mortgage company to collect more.

Here is another example of why an 'Agent' should not be allowed to handle ANYTHING, except market real estate, which is all they are getting paid to do anyway.

My very strong advice to anyone buying or selling a home:
Do not sign anything, and I mean ANYTHING, which includes Listing Contracts and Buyer Broker Agreements before having an Attorney look it over FIRST! Your Real Estate Agent may not like this at all, but remember, if the Agent makes a mistake YOU will most likely pay for that mistake, not them, as Elisna has just learned.

The closing agent is not a real estate agent. He/she works for the settlement company.

**A: monkey'suncle is confusing the closing agent as referenced in the subject of this thread with a real estate agent.
