What is the name of your state? AZ

My girlfriend at the time and I both signed a lease on a house for one year. For that one year, she probably worked 1 month total from one job to another. She did not pay any rent or the utilities. We are now broken up and I have a new lease with just my name on it. Can i recover her half of the money from the rent and utilities even now? the half of her rent alone for that year would of been 2,790 not including the utilites and other stuff that i paid for her. Hope someone can help me out.

Small claims

You could take her to small claims court but if she is not working then it will be useless. but if you do take her to court. then if she does work then you could try to garnish her wages. but to be honest you probably will not collect a dime.

Yes you can take her to small claims court here in AZ. If she does not show, you win... You have to consider the amount you want and whether it is worth it...

Re-small claims court

That other poster is right. if she doesn't show up then you win by default judgement. but most states require that the person be served before you can sue them and win a judgement.
