My ex-husband is almost $10,000.00 behind in child support. He usually makes his monthly obligation about twice a year. He has had several bench warrants for his arrest, but he has never been arrested. I was supposed to get his taxes this year, but never received anything. Now his child support is supposed to be held out of his check each week, but for the past 3 weeks, there has been nothing paid. How do I make the child support enforcement office in my area do something about this problem?

NC

If you filed for child support through the CSE, thenI would think that allyou would have to do is call them and ask them (or do it yourself) to file an order of contempt for not following through. Also, if his employer was supposed to be taking his CS out of his pay, they will be named in the contempt order to as well. At least, that is what would happen here in NC. Definately check with your CSE case worker and talk to them about helping you.

As they say the squeaky wheel gets the oil. My husband has to call CSE a few times a month, and send the "reminder letters" every few weeks. At one time we stopped harrassing them for about 9 months and they did absolutly nothing for those 9 months. He has talked to everyone from the Receptionist to the supervisor. They seem to be more willing to help, now that they know they are going to be hearing from him often.
