What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ut
I requested my yearly credit reports and a collection agency is listed under negative accounts. This is for an electric company (that I have not done business with since 1999).
The amount on all three reports is the same. One report states date opened 3, 2008, one states date assigned 3,2008 (with 1st delenquincy 2, 2008) and one states date placed for collection 3, 2008.
All 3 credit bureau reports indicate that it was reported on 6, 2008
I disputed with the credit bureaus, and 2 of the credit bureaus states the the information remains on my credit report because it was reported accurately. I have not heard from the 3rd one.
I have not been notified by this collection agency (and have lived at my current address for 7 years).
I want to get this off my credit report.
If this is identity theft, what direction do I go?
If this is my account, is it legal for the collection agency to re-age it?
This collection agency was registered in 11, 2006 and has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB due to failure to respond to 2 or more complaints (the BBB has 11 complaints against them)
It is my understanding that to ask the collection agency for validation, only requires them to give me the name and address of the original creditor. Will they send a copy of the original contract and payment history? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
