What is the name of your state?

Ok... I'm in Indiana, btw, and need some advice about this same law firm.

I had a strange thing happen today. My old roommate (haven't lived with her in two years) got a voicemail from a Ryan, at "the law office of Lawrence A Hecker", and they gave the 1 800 number, and left a case reference number, etc. The strangest part about that, is the call was for my FATHER. The message was left for HIM. Now my father obviously never lived at this number, and has in fact lived at his same address for over twenty years, with the same phone number, etc. My name wasn't mentioned at all, but this almost HAS to be connected to me, in some way. Now, as far as I know, I don't have any bills out there that aren't accounted for, unless I've lost track of something and don't realize it. But I'm 100% sure all my credit cards are current. I can't think of anything I had that was in his name at the time. (I had just gotten out of college, so I did have some things jointly with him in the past, but my name was on them, as well.) Anyone have any clue what this might be? What I mean is, doens't this probably have something to do with me? I'm really confused and concerned, and reading these horror stories on here has me very worried. My former roommate gave me the information to give to my father, and I'm wondering if I should call it first, in the event it is for me. I really don't want to get my father involved if it is for me. Any thoughts?

They asked for your father, not you. They are probably trying to find a number to contact him at. They should not discuss the debt with you, as this is for your father. That was made clear in the message. Your best bet is to find their address and send a letter certified mail return receipt. Tell them to not call your number. Either state your father does not live there, or give them the correct address. It doesn't really matter what you do, unless your father does not want you to give them his address. In that case, just state he does not live there.

Lawrence Hecker's address & phone

Times New Roman

I am in Louisiana. I have had many problems with Lawrence Hecker's Office. They are attempting to collect on a debt from my ex-husband. First they just left messages on my answer machine, like the one you mentioned, with a case number. I never returned the calls.

They have been able to get my phone number, which was never associated with my ex. They have also been able to get my daughter's phone number, who is married now and lives in another city in Louisiana, and they have called and harassed both of us.

The call I received last night was the worst. They were extremely rude, and pressuring me to give them information on my ex, who I have not talked to or seen in over 2-1/2 yrs. They would not give me their address or any info on their company. I finally called back and got through to a supervisor who was the worst. I was told "since you 'were' married to him you are 'responsible' for him." He told me "You will have to put up with the phone calls to we locate him". I told him that I was calling the police and turning this over to my attorney. He said "go ahead, good luck." By this time I could spit fire. I did report the harassing phone calls to the local police and I have turned this over to my attorney.

They will stop at nothing to get the information they want. My unending search for this attorney's address have been successful. I was able to locate a website which is a lawsuit for an "unhappy debtor". He was being sued for $150,000.

His address is:
Lawrence A. Hecker, Attorney at Law
1 AAA Drive, Suite 103
Robinsville, NJ 08691
609-689-3939
800-884-0860
Fax: 609-689-3402

I would think that he is trying to collect on a dept from your ex room mate. You should probably send him a letter to cease calling you regarding this matter. He will stop at nothing - and contact any relative of yours that he can get info on.

I hope you can be successful in ending the harassing phone calls.
