Collections Harrassment/Wrong person

I am being "harrassed" by a collection agency, and this is a case of "same name, different person". My husband and I have told them repeatedly that this person is not me; different SSN, birthday, etc. They keep saying that they will remove my phone number from the list, but then they call back a week later. Is there anything that I can do besides not answering my phone or changing numbers? Please help, I am very frustrated!!!

Use the search option above and search for "cease and desist" without the puncuation. You will find 3 or 4 threads a day with links to sites that offer info on sending a cease and desist letter to collection agencies.

next time they call, ask for the name of the agency and their mailing address. Send them a cease & desist letter. You can find samples at www.creditinfocenter.com
