What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida and California

There are a couple communities, one in each of the above states, that require contracts be signed to purchase homes within them mandating religious practices, volunteer work, the prohibition of birth control, etc.. Are these communities violating laws by banning others not of the religion?

So which one do you live in, or is this homework?

Antigone, my husband and I are looking into buying our first home in the next year and want to know our rights and such in different areas before we decide on a state and area.

The only one that comes to mind is Ave Maria, Florida but I don't think they mandate any particular religion. It happens to be a town built around a Catholic university.

You are looking to live in an obscure religious community but don't know your own religious faith?

With all the wealth of housing options available in this country, you can't find any suitible housing outside one of these miniscule communities?

There is a somewhat common version of a religous community based on specific faith. However these are set up as vacation property, religous retreats, resorts, etc where the specific faith is a "membership" requirement.
Many nursing homes and assited living facilities can be set up this way also.
I could see a gated community or condo association set up in this manner.

The official website of Ava Maria, Florida, specifically states that anyone of any religion is welcome and they are not a "Catholic" town. So I ask the OP again to specify an example of a town that is mandating a specific religion.
