Minnesota (Ramsey County)

My current girlfriend got out of a long relationship of her ex. This was a relationship filled with loads of abuse, and her ex enabling her alcoholism. We'll call her person 1, and him person 2.

1 got home late one morning, and 2 became very violent. 2 was later arrested at work, locked up for a couple days.

1 wanted to press charges, showed up for all the court cases and the pretrial stuff.

1 moved in with me. We'd been friends for a couple years, nothing was happening beyond friendship between us at this point.

1 received the summons to show up at the court, however since her mail was being forwarded, she did not receive it until after the court case, to which she later found out the charges were dismissed.

1 STRONGLY wants these charges brought back up against 2 because 1 believes that 2 deserves to go to jail over what he did.

Is there anything that 1 can do in this case? she saved the envelope that shows the mail was forwarded from the original address to here.

Thanks in advance!

Have her go talk to whoever she talked to the first time and refile the charges.

Where is the "complicated" part?

I suppose it feels to me more complicated than it really is.

I'm not an attorney, and I don't have any experience with a situation like this.

(exactly why I'm coming to you guys once again, you've always been extremely helpful)
