What is the name of your state? Illinois

Re: broken lease

I just received a letter from my former landlord that they will be filing
a judgement against me in the Circuit Court of Cook County.

How long will this judgement be on file?

Can they try and charge additional late fees and for work allegedly
not agreed to after the fact regarding my lease for the first year I lived there?
I could understand that they will try to charge anything they can get for the lease I broke, but the one I didn't?

**A: when you went to court, what were the results?

In Illinois/Chicago, landlords can NOT just take a judgment against you...they must file a lawsuit against you and you must usually be served with a summons....to have a money judgment entered against you.

Can you be more descriptive in what your landlord told you and what you have found out as to the exact papers or status?
