What is the name of your state?Wisconsin
My son has 2 sons and has been incarcerated and recently released. He is paying child support and so far his ex has caused no problems with him having them on weekend visits, but we are wondering if he needs to have something court ordered so he has some leverage. She also was incarcerated for a time and we had guardianship of one of the boys and have court ordered visitation with him. We fear she will cause problems and not let him see them, because he now has a new girlfriend and the ex has been trying to entice him to visit her and be with her even though she has a new boyfriend who is in jail and she also has 2 children with him.
Does he need to get some sort of court order to protect himself?

In almost all circumstances I would say get it in writing and through the Court but how recently has he started these visitations? You may want to keep up the agreement just so your son can prove he has a pattern of visitation then when mom decides to stop allowing visitation if she does he can prove that it has been this way and he requests it continue.
