I am enrolled in full-time graduate studies (MBA). My F-1 was approved
in Jan 2005. I wish to pursue an internship this summer, but my DSO
refuses to approve my CPT before I complete 9 months on my visa. I have
read innumerable times that Graduate students need not complete the 9
month requirement to apply for CPT. Why then am I being denied by my
DSO? What is the remedy?

Is there any option other than CPT to pursue a summer internship on F-1
status?

Please help asap!!

Tell the DSO to look in the NAFSA Training Manaul F-1 for Beginners...page 14-8. It reads.."to be eligible to apply, the student must have been in lawful status as a full-time student for one full academic year unless a graduate program requires an immediate CPT experience."

So the question to you is...does the program require an immediate CPT experience?
