Hypothetical illustration.
Say you have a five hundred bucks in checking

You make 4 $10 purchase transactions on tuesday and a $505 transaction on wed. On Thuirday the bank processes them starting with the biggest first, even though they were not chronologically... So you get 5 massive overdraft fees instead of 1.

Banks do this all the time.

While what the bank may be doing is unethical, what the person is doing may be illegal but surely no less unethical than what the bank is doing. In your hypothetical situation if the person didn't over draw their account there would be no issues. The issue is, simply put, spending more money than they have. Op needs to stop doing that and their problem will be solved.
