What is the name of your state? CO

I'm three months into this marathon and it is very tiring. I delete all the messages. I agreed to pay one and said I'd try to others. But that was hopeful thinking. DC left 7 messages when the check bounced on their direct pay. MBNA hasnt called yet, and it isnt much fun. I have to wait a year and before filing Ch7. Any ideas?

Why do you have to wait a year ? Recent cash advances or is it property transfer ???

There's no real way to make it any easier to put up with debt collectors. You can change your phone number and make the new one unlisted - but then don't give your new number out to ANYONE. You can get PrivacyDirector services from your local phone company that blocks out 'out of area' and 'unknown' callers as well as blocked numbers. Make sure you have caller ID and let them talk to your answering machine.

Yes, I had large cash advances of about 50K this year and about 60k last year. So, to avoid objections I have to wait a year.

Clearly, you need to learn some self-control and to reign in your excessive spending. You are a prime example of why our bankruptcy laws should be made more stringent. Curious, what the hell did you buy with that $110 THOUSAND dollars of someone elses money???? And don't tell me that you were just 'living'... cause that is a damn good living to a lot of WORKING people out there.

at about 5K/month basic bills and a few huge medical bills that the self empl medical wouldnt cover and it quickly added up. Then it snow balled when the CC started having 300/month min payments. :(

There is simply no way you are going to convince me, or likely anyone else, that you had $5000 per month in 'simple' living expenses. Even in Colorado.

Actually JETX, 5K/month living expenses are QUITE EASY to rack up for many people. Just make a 100K for a couple years and convince yourself you need lots of "things".

Lots of salespeople will become your best friend and sell you lots of things on credit. Then one bad year happens, followed by another, and bang! BK!

In short, BK happens to many high-income people when they become low-income people.

I agree. However, the minute that the paychecks stop, any reasonable person would start taking steps to minimize his monthly 'outgo'.... and not continue to live like he/she was still employed.
Things like:
1) Eliminating the 'extras' (HBO, cable, DSL, dinners out, etc.)
2) Contacting creditors and trying to negotiate or delay payments.
3) Put off that new big screen tv, car, furniture, etc.
and LOTS of other PRACTICAL things.
