What is the name of your state? IL

I bought a car from a person who claimed himself to be a small time dealer, he sold me a 02 Toyota corolla, having some 60k miles on it. That time carfax report was good enough with no problematic records.
I used it for almost 1.5yr and sold it to a dealer.
Dealer found in carfax saying that the car has already crossed 100k miles and the odometer has been rolled back. I was not aware of any of these things at all when I bought/ sold that.
The first owner has all maintenance records showing that it crossed 100k and first owner says that he sold to some x. He has proofs of that.
I have no proof of buying it from x, other than emails.
The title which i got, was having miles as 60k.
Dealer to whom i sold reported the incident to DMV. Now, they are tracking back the person who sold it to me (so called, x). Me and the first owner has the phone number of x, to which he doesnt responds.
DMV is looking in to this now.
If they are not able to track down that x, Will I be held responsible for all this mess ?
I dont even know that odometer has been rolled back, when i sold it. Can dealer sue me at all ? if so, can i sue inturn the first owner (since its his responsibility to represent the miles on the title when giving it to x....) ??
Can any one throw some light on this please ?
