And that is what I have.....they still tell me I am stupid for wanting to get this court ordered, I guess since they are not in the problem, they don't understand...who knows!

I have called 5 lawyers, and they all have told me the samething, that they wuld not take a case where the parents were unmarried and had a child, and the mother wants to set-up visitation, they said the Judge would look at me like I was crazy. I would think a Judge would say, hey this women is being nice and giving him the visitation and he doesn't have to pay for it.

With that being said, on my next call to an atty, how would you say it if you was me? Maybe, I am approaching this incorrectly.

Tell them you want to establish a CUSTODY order.

Tell them you want to establish a CUSTODY order.

You what I was not looking at it that way, becuase before, I've always been told that I had custody of my son and I just needed to get visitation court ordered. So, a 2k retainer should take care of BOTH of these issues? (Hopefully) :)

Thanks everyone for you advice!! :)

I hope so, too! :)
(I just didn't want you to get some yahoo in another state who told you that, definitively, you WILL pay less than $2K. Or whatever. )

My lawyer got a $1500 retainer--I've not seen a bill for anything yet. Depositions will cost extra. Like I've said before, I had been quoted anywhere from 1K-1.5K for retainer on a custody case only, since DHR handled the child support. You can always call around and see who can do it for you at a lower price. Lawyers will talk to you for a few, find out what you want to do before they quote you a price. Good luck to you. :)

(I know whereof I speak; I am in the same metro area as OP!;))
