I really would like an answer to the question.

I'm not blaming them for what I did. I was held accountable and already paid the price. The difference is, I didn't solicit them to do this work. They called me and all but begged me to do it, and agreed to pay the fee knowing it was against company policy. My thoughts are they should be held accountable WITH me, not instead of me.

Although this is a civil matter, let me draw on a criminal analogy. If I pay someone to murder somebody, wouldn't I be held accountable along with the person that pulls the trigger?

Your criminal analogy doesn't work in civil liability.

Let me put it to you this way: If you and John Doe sign a promissory note to me and you both default, then I can sue (1) you, (2) John Doe, or (3) both y'all.
