What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?I live in California but I believe he was in prison somewhere in Tennesse. He was transfered there from the Halawa Prison Back home in Honolulu, Hawaii.

What happened was a friend of the family was also serving his time in the same TN prison and when he saw how bad my Dad's health was he called his wife/girlfriend back home and told her to get in touch with his family because my Dad was very weak, lost an enormous amount of weight and he just looked as if the wind blew too hard his bones would just shatter.
Anyhow, when my family got the news my aunt called the prison to find out the condition of my father and inquired as to why no one in the family was notified of his condition. But upon doing so, they only put her off saying they would answer her questions when the right person to help her was in. The next thing we knew, they were releasing him to come home because of his illness.
I want to know why and what can be done to prevent this from ever happening. Had it not been for this family friend my Father would have died & no one would have been the wiser. When he was sent home it was only a matter of weeks before he passed away. This past August 19,2005.
I would really like to know if what they did was right or even called for. I know he was a prisoner, but he was also a human being with family who happened to love and care about him and are concerned about what goes on with him. It just seems so cruel. I mean to us. The family. Me. His daughter. It just seems cruel to us....

What did you expect? Did you not keep in touch with the prisoner? Had you, you may have known about his health.

They sent him home to die didn't they? You should be thankful for that. Thousands of prisoners serving long sentenses will frail and get ill with many things.

Why do you feel it was up to the prison to stamp a letter to you?

Why didn't you already know? The prisons have standard procedures, and this prisoner was no different.

Maybe you and your family should have kept in touch with him, instead of hearing it from a stranger.

and
I believe he was in prison somewhere in Tennesse.

Sorry, but those two quotes clearly are contradictory.

If you want to keep this from ever happening again why don't your family and friends work on a plan to obey the law and stay out of prison?
