Does anyone officially know the length of time for an abandonment case in illinois? Or in Tennessee? I know in Iowa it's only 6 months.

6 months is the amount of time that some states require you to live there to be considered a resident (some are a year...) Tenn. is one of the ones that require 6 months so if you want to wait until you are a resident there you have some waiting...

Have you even lived at your current place 6 months?

Now, why didn't I think of that?

When the floods hit, my family donated items to Red Cross shelters and volunteered to fill sand bags. How much simpler it would've been to pack up the U-Haul instead!

Oh well. Happy trails. Iowa's loss; Tennessee's gain.

I searched to find out about the Tennessee laws on abandonment and found nothing. So don't act like it's all right under my nose. Perhaps your search engine is broken.

And I don't exactly have HOURS to sit here and wade through all of these threads, considering I have a house and family to take care of.

Well, thanks to those that actually tried to help me. I guess I'll just try another route from here on out.

It took me t .21 seconds to find it on google.....

Tennessee Code, Sec 36-1-113. Termination of parental rights.
