My son is 7 years old and is on a medication that he has to take 2 times a day - once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The two doses are to be 9 to 12 hours apart. We give our the son the morning dose and his after-school daycare gives him the second one when he first arrives. Our son has been on Spring Break for the past 2 weeks. Therefore, he has been going all day to the daycare. We ran out of our part of the prescription and was waiting for the pharmacy to get some more in. The daycare still had their prescription. Our son took it upon himself to ask the daycare for his morning dose since we were "out" at home. The daycare only has permission to administer the afternoon dose. The assistance director, who usually gives him the medicine, gave him the additional dose without consulting me or my husband. Our son ended up having two doses within a 6 hour span. We know that it happened once and believe that it happened two more days. Luckily there was no medical reaction. We have reported the incident to DHR but would like to know if we should receive some type of monitary pay for the neglect and possible risk of our son's health?
