hi
i had belonged to care one debt settlement, and bingo, i got fired from my job...to make it worse..i could not look for a job in the last 2 months because i had a complaint filed against me, and its getting settled today , the 20th....not sure what happen yet

anyhow, i had been on care one debt settlement for 3 months, ..they did not make payments for 2 months, and got resigned 2 weeks ago because of no income

i got a letter 3 days ago from law firm, citi card, on collection

called them and told them about my situation ,and that i will be back on debt settlement when i find a job

now its got to the point of the lawyers.....what can i do...or what should i do?

not sure what you are looking for. if you owe the debt and aren't paying it, they have a right to take whatever actions available to attempt to collect the money.

until i find a job, i cannot do anything about my debt...i was off the settlement program for 3 months, and want to get back on....but now i have law firm getting in touch...can they try to collect until i can back on debt settlement...can they prevent me from getting back on debt settlement...this is all new to me.

of you breached some agreement you had with them, of course they can attempt to collect. Unless you had some contract that would allow you to miss payments, you have breached any agreement you might have had.

there is no requirement they allow you on any debt settlement program to begin with and since you breached any possible agreement you might have had, there is surely no requirement they allow you back on such a program.

what did the attorney letter say? Are they suing you?

the letter is not sueing ,,,a collection letter, and if i did not notify them in 30 days...the debt would be validated. citi is letting this firm to try to collect.

the debt settlement program i was on before, it was through a law firm....but without a job,,i cannot do much of anything..

just looking for some options that i have to settle my problem

unless the current collector will negotiate something with you, I don't really see any options. It's tough out there and your story is very common, sorry to say.
