What is the name of your state? Connecticut

I received a speeding ticket indicating that I was travelling 77.1 in a 55. The officer indicated on the ticket that he used VASCAR as his method of speed detection. On the ticket itself he wrote the values he used for time and distance. I have taken these numbers and tried to calculate the speed converting from feet/sec and meters/sec and I arrive at the same number 42.1. Is this a valid defense to say that the device was not accurately calculating the correct values or the officer made a mistake in his calculation?

And what makes you think that VASCAR will be the only evidence the cop has?

He will also testify as an expert witness as to your speed.

In fact, he doesn't even need to introduce VASCAR if he doesn't want to.

I was told by the DA's office that I needed to prove inaccuracy of the detection device. I was in my car travelling behind another person I know, who was behind the cop. The left lane slowed, I moved to the middle lane, maintaining my speed and the cop pulled in behind me to pull me over. What kind of accuracy can he have in those conditions? Especially if he is indicating on the ticket that he used VASCAR with specific values for D/T? Even with a several seconds margin of error, the speed he indicated on the ticket is not even close to the calculated speed.

The officer is also citing Sec 14-219C - Use of speed monitoring devices to support a conviction. This would lead me to believe that he is going to use that defense.
