What is the name of your state? california

I just had a crown done on a lower right molar. After I got the crown, my bite has been changed. I'm getting heavy bite between left front teeth, canines, and premolar. As a side effect ( I believe), I'm getting headache and muscle pain on my neck, shoulder, and back. I went to the dentist and talked about it. All answer that I got from him was it is coincidental and it is similar like that I fall on a rainy day. What do I have to do? I'm in serious pain.
Thanks

Make an appointment with your dentist and demand that the crown be fitted properly. If the dentist refuses, remind your dentist that you contracted with him/her for a properly fitting crown and you met your contractural obligation by paying for the crown in full. Remind the dentist that if his/her part of the contract is not met and you have to seek treatment elsewhere, you may be forced to recoup any further financial expenses from him/her. Then, do what you have to do to get the crown adjusted or reconstructed.

Thanks elleencee

Thanks for your advice,

I have already been to the dentist. He told me that the crown had no problem and I should go to see a doctor specilized in pain relieve. He also recommended me to take an anti-depressant, which I could not quite understand why. He said that an anti-depressant could relieve muslce pain. I didn't want to talk to him anymore because he got so emotional. I'm going to get a second opinion from my previous dentist (have to drive 40 minutes to go to his office) and get back to the dentist. I have been in pain since last September and very exhausted. Thanks elleencee. You gave me a hope.

re: Crown

Yojk,

This could be a problem with the bite of the crown. It's possible that the bite looks good for all normal functions and on first inspection, no problems are obvious. A parafunctional habit (grinding, clenching teeth etc.-also likely at night and unknown to you- ) may be present and making this apparently good new crown a problem to you. Are you more sore in the mornings? Does the muscle relaxant (antidepressant) help? Is the soreness on one or both sides? Check the muscles on the side of your jaw (masseter) and bite down... If you can, try to compare to someone else... Very prominent masseter is a possible sign of a clenching or griding habit.

You could ask the dentist to adjust/reduce the biting surface of the crown and you could then determine if it has any effect on your condition. It is possible that this (the new crown) is a coincidence. It is also possible that there is a problem with the crown. Either way, this is a good solution because if the new crown is not the problem, having it replaced should and likely will be your responsibility (and your cost). Having it adjusted too much may compromise certain aspects of the crown, but a slight adjustment may be all that you need to diagnose the problem.
Good Luck.

Thanks Mike

Thanks Mike,

I went to see my previous dentist and found why I am having this pain in my jaw, neck, and many other places. He told me that I'm lacking contact between the crowned tooth and upper tooth. He was puzzled to hear that the bad dentist didn't check my bite after learing where I was having pain. After checking my bite, my previous dentist explained what I needed to get the money back. Following his adivce, I contacted my dental insurance and I sent out a letter to the owner of the dental clinic. Also, if necessary, he told me that I could always go through a peer review by 3 other dentists. I hope this help me resolve this matter. Thank again for you opinion and good luck for me.

Help

I Have a similar problem and i wake up with headaches.... my dentist has been very nice to me but still that doesn't help. I am in pain.
I had two crowns replaced...the old ones broke but I was fine.... just that the food would go and sit... and then an infection wld hit me.
This new dentist here replaced my old crowns with some Zirconia crowns which are said to be unbreakable..I paid extra for getting these better ones since the insurance did not cover this new Zirconia thing.
Did you better dentist replace the crowns or just made adjustments... it is any better ... I feel I clench a lot and it is eating away the enamel of my teeth....even the thought scares me...
