What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

I have an UNUM Own Occupation Disability Insurance policy that I have been paying into for over 10 years at ~$200/mo. I have been having lower back pain and leg numbness and my doctors have said I qualify for disability. When I just checked my policy it includes an Exclusion Rider that disqualifies any claim due to back issues. I signed it back in 1999 but don't remember. My question is: Can an Exclusion Rider be challanged and can you win the challenge or does the court not care about the "fairness" of the exclusion and only cares if you signed it or not?

Did you have a pre-existing condition involving your back? If not, why was the exclusion created? Pretty crappy insurance if there was no reason.

What does it say exactly? I know it does not say 'back issues'...what is the wording? What is your diagnosis?

You can always file the claim and see what happens.
