Does Dad have any right to house?

What is the name of your state? PA

My Dad has been living in a house with his wife of 19 years. For the first 17 years they rented their half from his wife's parents. When her parents became ill they transfered the Deed to her. My Dad was in the hospital so wasn't present at the transfer. At that time, his wife put her daughter on with her.

Now they are having marital trouble for various insignifcant reasons. She told him that he has nothing there. "He came with nothing, he leaves with nothing." Yet, he resided the house, paid the rent and bills monthly, fixed the entire place which was unfit for most of us normal people, put in a pool, put her through nursing school, helped get her kids through their teenage years. All this while she worked at some hot dog stand part time. Now he cares for HER grandson daily because she won't, nor does her daughter who lives with them and off of them. He is 66, home daily because he was disabled like 4 years ago due to several heart surgeries. His wife has taken thousands and thousands of $$ and removed it from the banks and left him without the ability to get a dime until his next pension and social security come in.

What are his rights in regards to the house, cars, etc? I need to help him protect himself. I think her and her druggy RN daughter are trying to rake him over the coals. I informed my loving step-mother that this home and everything they have is "marital property" and he has as much right to everything as she does. After 19 years I think there is little question of this. But I think she thinks that because her daughter is on the Deed he has no rights. Also, does the daughter not have to pay some sort of gift tax since she is listed 2nd on the Deed?

You may very well be right. That's why your dad needs a really good divorce lawyer...have him get one like right now.
